Cutie Pie Thanksgiving Place Cards

Thanksgiving!  Love it!

Are you already thinking of decorating your Thanksgiving table or buffet?  We always enjoy looking for fun additions to our tablescape.  So this month I made some sweet and simple place cards.

I will include a list of materials used at the end of the post but for now think of cooler weather, bountiful harvests and sharing with family.

To begin this project I chose Lawn Fawn’s Cutie Pie stamp and Die sets.  I stamped the images using Hero Arts Cup O’Joe ink.  It has a great rich brown I wanted to place against the soft buff of the Bazzill Basics cardstock used on the base.

The acrylic block allows creative placement of the steam vents on the pie.  I make great use of each of these tools.

lbw blog cutiepie 3I used 140 lb. Strathmore Watercolor paper on this project and loved using colored pencils with it.  These come from a set by SoHo Urban.  I used #117 Crimson, #202 Naples Yellow and #203 Indian Yellow along with a generous helping of the Wink of Stella glitter brush.

lbw cutiepie blog 2My card bases were cut at 3.5 inches wide by 4 inches tall for the Buff colored one and 5 inches wide by 4.5 inches tall for the Sky Blue card stock.  Later, I decided I liked 4 inches wide by 4.5 inches tall for the Sky Blue card stock better.

Next I used my score board to score a line across the width at 2 inches in the Buff card stock and 2.25 inches in the Sky Blue card stock.lbw blog cutiepie8I used Zig 2 Way glue pen to apply adhesive on the backs of the pie and the steam trails and placed them on the lower right corner of the Buff cardstock.

Next I stamped the sentiment included in the Cutie Pie set on the left hand side of the Buff card stock leaving room to include a person’s name or the name of a dish towards the top of the place card.  I used the same Hero Arts Cup O’Joe ink for the sentiment.

After stamping the sentiment I folded each piece of card stock along the score line.  The Buff card stock is centered on the Sky Blue card stock and adhered using Crafty Powertape by 3L.

I chose to use the Buff color card stock and the Sky Blue card stock because I think they compliment the pewter candlesticks in the tablescape and they will be more noticeable against the darker fall colors of the season.  Also, I had to make the pie a cherry pie because that is one I look forward to every year!

I hope you have enjoyed this post and you will give some Thanksgiving place cards a try this year.  Let me know if you do!

See you nest time,
